Graduating in 3 weeks

Hello everyone! I am graduating in 3 weeks. I can’t wait for school to be over! For 3 years of studying online, I never once liked it, but I also did not hate it. Every time I make my essays, I always get frustrated of where to find information, books are difficult to understand without the guidance of a live teacher and so I support my education using YouTube, Google, the books used in my class and lastly the school’s online library, which is of minimal help most of the time.

After graduation I will take time to collect all my essays and re-do them, simplify it and share it with everyone. I am surprised that I survived online school, I hope it made me a bit smarter from all the self-studying. You may contact me for any help and I’ll be of assistance when I get the chance. Good luck on your studies!

Essays

I’ve made countless essays during my three years of BSIT. I can’t believe it. I have four months more until graduation and I still have not mastered the APA format. I am better than before of course, but still not an expert. As I go through my core classes in my concentration in Advanced Networking, instructors are less particular with the format nor grammar,  unlike with my previous non-concentration classes. I am getting perfect scores, and that’s good. They are more forgiving, as long as you give the content they are asking for.

Still, I prefer exams and quizzes than having to do essays. The benefit of essays for me is that I understand better because I am forced to write about something in my own words, and I have to make sense. The disadvantage of it is that, I just forget what I learn, memorization to its poorest level. While with quizzes, my memorization is better, and of course at the same time I have to understand what I am studying to be able to answer correctly.

My school just launched its new classroom. A classmate of mine from the previous class just told me that the school have removed the discussion questions. Those annoying requirements that you have to answer 200-300 words at specific days for attendance, the class is expected to elaborate more and talk about it for more attendance points; I call these posts as “BS posts.” You know what I mean with BS right? Because I just talk about anything, as plastic as I would sound, just to get attendance post. Being plastic has its advantage though, it makes everyone talk politely.

How to back up your iTunes library back up

iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

One way to back up your iTunes library is to consolidate your library into one folder and then copy that folder to an external hard drive. This is a painless process that only takes a few moments to accomplish.

Collapse All | Expand All

Consolidating Your iTunes library

To make the move as easy as possible, it’s important to make sure all of the items in your library are in one place.

    1. Open iTunes Preferences:
      Mac: Choose iTunes > Preferences.
      Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.
    2. Click Advanced.
    3. Make sure the option to “Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library” is selected.Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library
    4. Click OK.Note: With this option selected, when you add files to iTunes, iTunes places copies of the originals in the iTunes Media folder. The original files are left in their original locations. To save space on your hard disk, you might want to delete the original files after confirming import.
  1. Choose File > Library > Organize Library.
  2. Select the option to “Consolidate files.”Note: If you recently updated to iTunes 9, you might want to consider selecting the option to “Upgrade to iTunes Media organization.” This updates the file organization of your iTunes Media folder.
    Organize library options
  3. Click OK.Note: If you originally did not have the option to copy files enabled, iTunes will copy files outside of the iTunes Media folder from their original locations to the iTunes Media folder. To save space on your hard disk, you might want to delete the original files after confirming they have been moved and are backed up.

Copy iTunes folder to your external hard drive

To copy all the items in your iTunes library (including the iTunes Library file that holds all your playlists, playcounts, ratings, and other data) to your external hard drive, follow these steps:

  1. Quit iTunes.
  2. Locate your external hard drive.
Mac: On the desktop or Finder sidebar.
    Windows: In My Computer
  3. Locate your iTunes folder:
By default, the iTunes folder is located in:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
    Windows Vista: \Users\username\My Music\
    Windows 7 or 8: \Users\username\Music\
  1. If the iTunes folder is not in the default location listed above then you can find where the iTunes folder is located by following these instructions:
    1. Open your iTunes Preferences:
      Mac: Choose iTunes > Preferences.
      Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.
    2. Click Advanced.
    3. The location of your iTunes folder will be listed in iTunes Media folder location box, as pictured below.iTunes Media folder location highlighted
  2. Drag the iTunes folder to your external hard drive. This can take a while if you have a lot of items.Dragging the iTunes folder to an external hard drive
  3. When the transfer is complete, your iTunes Library will have been successfully copied to your external hard drive.

How to back up e-mails using Zimbra

How to back up e-mails using Zimbra

What good is an e-mail if it’s been hacked? Nothing! Just get rid of the e-mail account instead, but first, back-up your precious e-mail messages that you have been saving for years and years.

My e-mail in yahoo has been repeatedly hacked and is being used to send out pharmacy-related spam e-mails; and it’s funny because Yahoo knows this, and even described it in their help section with instructions on how to fix it. I followed the instructions, changed my password, made a sign-in seal, etc., and still a week later that pharmacy e-mail is sent to myself and to others from my own e-mail address, again.

Just in case you didn’t want to read the stuff above, here it is, in bold letters, that:

I am currently trying out Zimbra to back-up my e-mail messages.

HERE’S HOW:

wait for the adf.ly ad to finish and then click on “skip ad”

or

Back it up, delete your account afterwards and keep your other e-mails secure from now on.

A BIG THANKS to Math Help Forum

Image

The people from Math Help Forum has helped me a LOT in dealing with my assignments. They explain better than my teacher too! Just show them that you are willing to learn, by solving your assignments first before posting it to the forum, then you will receive replies that can actually save your grades! And no, they won’t do your whole homework for you, but they will help you do it and that is how it should be.

We all know that taking Math Class Online is a nightmare. Imagine self studying math, your textbook does not talk to you, does not explain in simple English and your teacher just throws your textbook chapters for you to read, discussion questions for you to answer and assignments for your to complete – but without any live discussion or support (unless you dig that out from your instructor when I persisted because he just gave me the option of learning more from YouTube instead of him teaching me, I’d rather pay YouTube to teach me than the university instead if that’s the case!)

Whether you are taking Math on campus or online, either way, Math Help Forum can really help you out. So go over there and support these guys!

Go to Math Help Forum now, register for free!

(If the link directs you to another page, just close the browser and click on the link again, it does that sometimes, I think it’s their pop-up ad.)

Boolean Algebra: Truth Table DNF to CNF

This is the best tutorial I could find.

Note: column f values are just random 0’s and 1’s. It does not come from x or y.

The author has another video for DNF, check it out in my previous posts.

Rebooting!

This blog is supposedly dedicated for students who are struggling with online schools (yes they just suck). Unfortunately, ITStudentBlogger is also having a difficult time catching up with online school. It will take months for me to post helpful content but I will be back!

With online school nowadays, you don’t learn from your faceless teachers anymore, but you learn from Google and YouTube, sadly. Unless I start posting helpful stuff which I intend to, then you will be learning from this blog very soon.

God bless! Study hard and wisely!
